THE ABC'S OF THANKSGIVING

A: Atonement – I am thankful for atonement, the reconciliation between God and people brought about by the death of Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 2:17 - For this reason he had to be made like his brothers in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.

B: Blood – I am thankful for the blood shed by Christ on the cross so that I may be cleansed.

1 John 1:7 - But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

C: Conqueror – I am thankful that I am a conqueror.

Romans 8:35-37 - Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

D: Dwelling – I am thankful my future dwelling will be with God.

Revelation 21:3 - And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.

E: Eternal – I am thankful I have eternal life!

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

F: Free – I am thankful that I am free.

John 8:36 - So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

G: Grace – I am thankful for that I am saved by the gift of Grace.

Ephesians 2:8-9 – For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.

H: Healed – I am thankful God has healed me of my sin.

Isaiah 53:5 – But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.

I: Integrity – I am thankful those who taught me integrity.

Titus 2:7-8 – In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned…

J: Jesus – I am thankful for Jesus, what a beautiful name.

Matthew 1:21 – She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.

K: Keeper – I am thankful that the Lord is my Keeper.

Psalm 121:5 – The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade on your right hand.

L: Love – I am thankful that I am love and accepted.

1 John 3:1 – How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

M: Mediator – I am thankful Jesus is my Mediator.

1 Timothy 2:5-6 – For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men—the testimony given in its proper time.

N: New Creation – I am thankful I am a new creation.

2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

O: Outstretched – I am thankful for the mighty outstretched arm of God.

Jeremiah 32:17 – Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.

P: Perfect – I am thankful that God’s way & word is perfect.

Psalm 18:30 – As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.

Q: Quiet Waters – I am thankful for the quiet waters my Shepherd Leads me to.

Psalm 23:1-2 –The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters.

R: Reconciliation – I am thankful I know my purpose, to be a minister of reconciliation.

2 Corinthians 5:18-19 – All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

S: Spirit – I am thankful His Spirit lives in me!

Romans 8:9-11 – You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.

T: Teach – I am thankful that God will teach me.

Psalm 25:4-5 – Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.

U: Unity – I am thankful for unity in Christ.

Romans 15:5-6 – May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

V: Victory – I am thankful for victory over death.

1 Corinthians 15:55-57 – Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

W: Watch – I am thankful to keep watch through prayer.

Mark 14:38 – Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.

X: eXalt – I am thankful for every opportunity to eXalt His name.

Psalm 34:3 – Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together.

Y. Yoke – I am thankful His yoke is easy and light.

Matthew 11:29-39 – Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Z. Zeal – I am thankful for the zeal that consumes me.

Psalm 69:9 – For zeal for your house consumes me, and the insults of those who insult you fall on me.
